The Process - My Dialogue With God

Scripture: Hebrews 5:7-9 NKJV

“who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,”

1. Facts

Just before Jesus was about to be crucified, He went to the garden of Gethsemane to pray to to God His Father.

Jesus was in deep agony about what was about to happen to Him.

The bible said He offered prayers and supplications with ‘vehement cries and tears’ which means strong intense passion emotions. Luke let’s us know that Jesus was in so much agony about the process He was about to experience so much so that His sweat ‘became great drops of blood falling down to the ground’ - Luke 22:44 Although Jesus was the Son of God, and although He cried out to the Father to take this cup away, He was not spared from the suffering He had to endured. Yes God heard Him but He didn’t take away the cup, He strengthened Him instead for the work ahead. In His agony God heard Jesus because of His reverence fear for God. In fact God sent His angel to strengthen Him (re-assurance, encouragement). Through the suffering that Jesus endured, He learnt a lesson of active obedience. He was humble and selfless. He focused on the fulfilling the will of God for His life on earth. Jesus, having gone through the experience and process of pain, suffering and crucifixion, God perfected Him and equipped Him to become the Author and Source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. 2. WIGS - What is God Saying To Me - ‘Life is not about what you get but about what you become in the process of getting’ (David Adabale) - Jesus, although the Son of God went through processes which God used to prepare Him for His assignment on earth - When you’re going through a challenging season, instead of saying God take this cup away from me, ask Me to give you the wisdom to understand the season you’re in. - I do not send adversity your way, I am the God of love and peace. But sometimes, I will use those challenges and adversity to fortify and prepare you for what I have called you to do. - Just like Jesus, when you call on me, trust me that I will always be with you, strengthening and encouraging you through the process. Even if I do not take the cup away, don’t doubt My love for you, trust me, be of good courage, so not loose heart, focus on Me and what I am doing and remain humble. It will surely work out for your good and for My glory. - No matter what you are going through, believe that you already have the victory! I have given you the victory. - I will make you an eternal excellence, a joy of many generations - Trust Me! 3. Acts - What Should My Action Be in Response?
