WHAT IS #LunchDateWithJesus ALL ABOUT?

#LunchDateWithJesus is a ministry created to encourage people, mostly women to establish a close and personal relationship with Jesus Christ in Fellowship, Partnership & Intimacy through the Holy Spirit.

#LunchDateWithJesus was born out of the deep heart's desire of Jessica Mae Obioha to know more about Jesus Christ.

THE HISTORY OF #LunchDateWithJesus

The year 2016 marked the beginning of something great in my life. It was the year of my breaking and making. I was gracefully broken so that the Potter's Hand (God) can remold me into the lady that He had called me to be. 

I went through a very traumatic season of my life in 2016 where I realised that the only One who can truly and will bring me out this wilderness is the One who already died to give me salvation, JESUS CHRIST.  So I went on a quest to get to know Him more and have a deeper relationship with Him.

In December 2016, I started writing personal letters to Jesus Christ (Dear Jesus Journal). This was very therapeutic for me as it helped me to unburden my heart and pour it out to Jesus. He did say in His Word to come to Him when we are over-burdened and He will give us rest (Matthew 11:28). He also to Pour out our heart to Him for He is our refuge (Psalm 62:8)

On The 8th February 2017, I wrote a letter to Jesus telling Him about my intentions to spend time with Him every Wednesday at lunchtime so I can get to know Him more. Initially, I called it #FastWednesday but later changed it to a name more subtle and loving to demonstrate my new found love for Him. I told Jesus in the letter that on Sundays (for those that go to church), our spirit is active and pumped up with the word of God which we have heard. On Monday, our spirit is still strong and feeding on the word we received on Sunday. On Tuesday, we are still strong but at this stage, we may be getting slowed down in spirit due to the challenges which we have encountered in the week. Then on Wednesday, middle of the week, we tend to struggle, feel so discouraged and may want to give up.

This was the case for me. I was so busy with work and so drenched in self-pity due to the personal challenges I faced that I didn't spend international time with God and I feed my spirit with the word of God only on Sundays. I choose to fast on Wednesdays as I realised that my spirit was usually down on this day. 

On Wednesdays at work, during lunchtime, I would swap my lunchtime for the word of God, worship Him or just be still in His presence. By doing this, God began opening my heart and giving me deeper desires to spend even more time with Him apart from Wednesdays. I became spiritually alert, able to hear from God and also able to take captive every lying voice of the devil. God began healing my wounds, through the help of the Holy Spirit, I finally realised my worth and who I am in Christ Jesus. 

On the 16th of April 2017 (Easter Sunday), God strategically planned for me to have a lunch date with Him along with 3 other ladies. I invited these ladies to my house after the service just to gather and celebrate Easter with me. This was decided on the day. Little did we know this was all in God's agenda :) 

We ate, spoke a lot about Jesus, I shared about my testimony about my #LunchDateWithJesus we prayed and God's presence was so tangible. After this experience, the ladies decided to join me in my weekly prayer and also have #LunchDateWithJesus so they can also deepen their relationship with Jesus. 

On the 7th of July 2018, #LunchDateWithJesus as a ministry was officially launched and its purpose is to inspire a hunger in women and encourage a desire to get closer to God, to have fellowship, partnership intimate relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, so that we can embrace our identity, He can grant us the joy of His presence, show us the way of life and the pleasures of living with Him forever.
