Understanding God's Love

One evening, during my time away in Cyprus in February 2018, I had the desire to spend time with God in His word. I opened my bible and came across Ephesians 3:14-19 . This verse stood out to me like Rhema word. It was titled Paul’s prayer for spiritual growth. It stood out to me because I desire to grow spiritually. It stood out to me because I was at the season where I want to understand this overwhelming love of God that I was currently experiencing. The verse talked about how wide, how long, how high and how deep God's love is. God's love completes me. So I decided to go on a search to understand how wide. Long, high and deep Your love is.

Here are my findings:

How Wide is God’s love?

The width of God's love extends to His creation. God loves everything He created. John 3:16 says for God so loves the world that He gave His only begotten son, for our salvation. Everyone one matters to God. God loves us unconditionally no matter what we do. God is love and He is everywhere, therefore no matter where in the world we go, God is there, and His love abides in us. God’s love will find you wherever you are.

How Long is God’s Love?

God’s love lasts and endures forever. It never ends. A human love has limits, but there’s no limit to God’s Love. Therefore, we ought to love one another with God’s kind of love as described in 1st Corinthians 13 so that our, marriage, relationship, friendships will last. God’s love is patient, kind & persistence. God’s love is wide enough to include everybody and long enough to last forever. God loves us in our good days and bad days, His love never gives up on us. His love is unconditional. He loves us freely. We don’t need to work hard to earn His love. He already loves us even when we think He doesn’t and He will continue to love us forever. His love is free to receive and free to accept. This is how long God’s Love is

How High Is God’s Love

The height of God’s love talks about the extent of love. His love is unconditional. Romans 8:38-39 tells us height of God’s love “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. The height of God’s love is that His love overlooks our mistake and wrongs. It’s amazing to know that NOTHING, not even our own faults, wrongs can separate us from His love. It’s amazing to comprehend the love of God in this way. The reason many of us gets lonely is we do not key into the knowledge of the height of God’s love. The knowledge of God’s love brings completion to our life and it destroys low self-esteem and eliminates loneliness. Let us key into His unconditional love. The easiest way to key into His love is having a relationship with Jesus, by doing this, the Holy Spirit helps us to be aware of His presence and conscious of His love.

How Deep is God’s love?

The depth of God’s is revealed in what it cost Him to give us this love. It is revealed in the sacrifice of His Only begotten son, Jesus Christ. To understand this clearly. Humanly speaking we know how much someone loves us by the things they do for us. This reveals to us how deep their love is for us. If someone sacrifices himself for you, or sacrifices something that costs him dearly for you, you will then without a shadow of doubt belief that that person loves you deeply. This is how deep God loves us. John 13:16 reveals the depth of God’s love. See Romans 5:5-8 “and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though …” The giving of Himself, is the demonstration of the depth of His love for us. He did this out of His pure unconditional love for us. Not because we deserve but because He loves us deeply.

Therefore it doesn’t matter what we do, where we go and how bad it gets, God loves unconditionally. He loves us wherever we go, He loves us patiently and His love lasts forever, NOTHING can and will EVER separate us from God’s love and finally God loves us so deep so much so that He sacrifices His only son to demonstrate His love for us so we may have peace and salvation.

The antidote to loneliness, depression, low self-esteem, happiness and peace is the knowledge and acceptance that God loves you deeply. The key lies in knowledge and acceptance of His love.

Prayer

I pray for you today that God would give you the desires to know Him more, that you will be strengthened with might through the Holy Spirit in the inner man, that Jesus Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend how high, how deep, how long and how wide God's love for you is, though it is too great to understand fully, so that you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes form God, in Jesus name, Amen.
